Dash cams give investigators a helping hand when determining the cause of an automotive incident. Thanks to this user, we’re able to see that the driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt is clearly at fault for the wreckage that you are about to see.
The clip starts with the camera car directly behind a new Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, which is to the right of a C7 Corvette Stingray convertible. Both lanes are making a left-hand turn through the intersection. As the Corvette and Jeep cross the apex of the turn, the Cobalt comes in flying, barely missing a pick-up truck that’s making a left-hand turn on the opposite side of the intersection. After the near-miss, the Cobalt smashes right into the Laredo, hitting it with so much force that the Jeep half-spins counter-clockwise into the Corvette, sending the Corvette into a half-spin of its own.
As the dash-cam driver pulls over, we see the white Cobalt sedan a little down the road, pulled up on the curb. To be honest, we’re not sure if it the reckless driver stuck around to own up to what they had done. To make matters worse, both the Jeep and the Corvette wore temporary tags – showing both were recently purchased.
We hope that everyone was able to walk away from this unscathed, unlike the banged up new cars. At least this camera footage should make it easier to process the insurance claims.
