First 2017 Ford GT rolls off the line just in time for the holidays
It’s about to be a very good Christmas (or whichever December holiday you celebrate) for one lucky, well-heeled Ford fan – the first 2017 GT rolled off the assembly line today. Happy holidays, you wealthy, wealthy gearhead. According to Ford, Multimatic in Markham, Ontario finished the first 2017 Ford GT today, marking a major milestone in the company‘s reborn supercar program. And Ford Executive Vice President of Global Product Development and Chief Technical Officer Raj Nair was on hand to mark the occasion.
“When we kicked off 2016, we had two primary objectives for our Ford GT supercar – to excel at Le Mans, and to start deliveries before year-end,” Nair said in an official statement. “We’ve achieved both.”
It’s been an epic year for the GT, and finishing production of the first consumer example is the cherry on top of the car‘s 2016.
